Sandy (Olivia Newton-John) and Danny (John Travolta) are singing to their friends at lunch on the first day of senior year, about the romance they had over the summer. The boys are at the football stadium and the girls are in the courtyard. Neither of them are aware, at the time, that they are actually attending the same High School. The performance is a mix of solos, duets, and ensemble singing. I love how the boys' versus the girls' lyrics bring out stereotypical perspectives regarding their activities and feelings for each other. When I watched this film as a 10 year old (1978), the frequent sexual references throughout the movie went right over my head. This is by far my favorite song of the whole wonderfully written and performed soundtrack.
